Use Calculator A: 
If you need to know the number of turns of wire in a winding and you know the inductance measurement across the winding and you also know the AL value of the core. Enter inductance value (making sure to enter the units correctly as nH,uH or mH) and enter the AL value of the core. Click on the green 'Calculate' button and the calculator will give you the theoretical number of turns of wire. Always bear in mind that there is a tolerance on the stated AL value of a core.

Use Calculator B: 
If you need to calculate the AL value of a core and you know the number of turns and the inductance across a winding. Enter the actual number of turns of wire and the measured inductance value (making sure to enter the units correctly as nH,uH or mH) Click on the green 'Calculate' button and the calculator will give you the derived AL value of the core.

Use Calculator C: 
If you need to calculate an inductance, based upon a known number of turns of wire and a known AL value of the core. Always bear in mind that there is a tolerance on the stated AL value of a core.

Use Calculator A & B: 
If you know the number of turns and the inductance measurement across a winding (but you don't know the AL value of the core) and you need to determine what new number of turns will be needed to achieve a different inductance across the winding. First enter the known number of turns and the inductance reading across these turns into calculator B, this will give you the derived AL of the core. Secondly, enter your new required inductance into calculator A, together with the derived AL value taken from calculator B. The calculator will then show you the number of turns you will need to achieve your new inductance requirement.
